MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS 

STRAWBERRY HILL FARM IS SURROUNDED BY A 120KM-NETWORK OF MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS WHICH FORM PART OF THE GROOTVADERSBOSCH CONSERVANCY TRAILS. 

You can choose from 4 different routes – each with a varying degree of technical difficulty. Most of the trail network consists of singletrack or rough farm track. The trails are what we call "real mountain biking" - fun but challenging. All the tracks are available to download here (kml and gpx). .

GET THE DETAILS

We highly recommend the trails available in Swellendam,
and the Bontebok National Park,
just outside of Swellendam. There is also a trail network that starts in Barrydale. And a bit further away there are some amazing trails close to Bredasdorp that are worth exploring.

We can provide you with a permit when you visit. Or you can buy a day permit from the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy Office (situated on Strawberry Hill Farm) for R70.

​A GUIDE?

​Aileen is an experienced mountain biker and adventure athlete – and can take you on the conservancy’s many routes. Aileen is a UK (MIAS) and South African (Adventure Network) certified mountain bike guide with first aid training. She has completed 2 Cape Epics, 2 World Xterra Championships (including a podium placing), 3 crossings of the Andes, 4 Alps crossings, and 1 crossing of the Arctic circle. She has also had a few podium placings in races across South Africa and Europe. But those race days are in the past and she now spends her time finding epic single track adventures in places that have exceptional wine.​
